I am Partner in Engineering, but I will also assist our construction operations and dust off my Architecture license to help grow our in-house design capabilities!
Prior to Mosaic, I spent a year as Product Strategy Director for InEight, a construction technology company. Leading up to that, I worked at Bechtel (the world's largest engineering + construction firm) for 8 years. While at Bechtel I energized a variety of cross-functional roles from design through contracts and cost and also lived/worked internationally in Oman and Germany.
A few of the mega-projects I spent time on-site were Dulles Metrorail, Muscat Int'l Airport, Riyadh Metro, and Google Fiber. In the last few years at Bechtel, I was fortunate enough to help build Bechtel's innovation program from the ground up, which operated as an internal venture fund taking ideas from concept and scaling through the enterprise. This was an exceptional experience. We learned how to adapt lean startup ideals to the construction world, while also blazing trails in emerging technology applications for engineering and construction. Think AR/MR/VR, generative design, and gig economies.
Going back a bit further, I completed my studies at the University of Illinois - Champaign/Urbana receiving a Master's and a BS in Architecture as well as a Minor in Mathematics. I'm now a licensed Architect in Rhode Island and imminently here in Arizona!
Let's wrap up. We're at an inflection point where the industry is primed and technology is mature enough to make a meaningful impact on productivity. We can begin to disrupt the fundamentals that have held us back for decades, and I couldn't be more excited to stitch this learning together here at Mosaic to help make great design and powerful places widely available to everyone.
On a more personal note, I've played guitar (classical and electric) for about 25 years. I spend my free time clumsily producing/composing music and creating (slightly better) artwork. My wife is from Turkey - we met in Oman of all places (see above) - and we recently launched an Etsy shop to get our art out into the wild!
For added flavor: learning about finance and economics is a favorite pastime - crypto trading has become a new hobby. I love to cook. Kurt Vonnegut is the king of fiction, and my latest podcast playlist consists of Marketplace, PTI, 99% Invisible, and Pod Save America.
